We are the Northern California Department of American Gold Star Mother’s. We’re a private organization of mothers who have lost a son or daughter in the service of our country.

If you’ve lost your child who was serving in the Armed Forces and would like the community of others in your situation, we invite you to join our organization. No one knows how you feel like another mother who has lost a child.

If you’re a member of the public, we participate in many memorial events around the state of California and you are welcome to join us.

2011, a year in Review

2011 was a busy year for American Gold Star Mothers, Dept of Northern California. 
Many of us attended the Marines Memorial Gold Star Parents weekend in February.  We participated in the Inaugural Travis AFB Gold Star Mom's Ruck March, Memorial Day in Washington, DC including Rolling Thunder, breakfast at the White House with President and Mrs Obama and a trip to Arlington National Cemetery. Our President, Karen Meredith attended the National Convention in Nashville in June.  We adopted the Foundation of Recovery group at the VA Hospital at Menlo Park, CA and give them a birthday party every month.  We supported the Travis Layfield Memorial Golf Tournament in May and the John Hallett III Memorial Golf Tournament in August.  We participated in Veteran's Day & Memorial Day celebrations across the state. We ended the year laying wreaths at Golden Gate Cemetery in San Bruno as participants with Wreaths Across America.
