Perpetuating the Noble Principles for which they Fought and Died

We are the Northern California Department of American Gold Star Mother’s. We’re a private organization of mothers who have lost a son or daughter in the service of our country.

Our Mission is:
★  Keep alive and develop the spirit that promoted world services.

★  Maintain the ties of fellowship born of that service, and to assist and further all patriotic work.

★  Inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, State, and Nation.

★  Assist veterans and to aid in any way in their power the men and women who served and died or were wounded or incapacitated during hostilities.

★  Perpetuate the memory of those whose lives were sacrificed in our wars.

★  Maintain true allegiance to the United States of America.

★  Inculcate lessons of patriotism and love of country in the communities in which we live.

★  Inspire respect for the Stars and Stripes in the youth of America.

★  Extend needful assistance to all Gold Star Mothers and, when possible, to their descendants.

★  To promote peace and good will for the United States and all other Nations.

If you’ve lost your child who was serving in the Armed Forces and would like the community of others in your situation, we invite you to join our organization. No one knows how you feel like another mother who has lost a child.

If you’re a member of the public, we participate in many memorial and patriotic events around Northern California and you are welcome to join us.

2010-2020

2020 was starting out to be another busy year for
American Gold Star Mothers, Dept of Northern California
but then, COVID-19 entered all of our lives.
We have been sidelined from visiting our Veterans for the duration, but we have big plans for when the world opens up.

In 2019, many of us attended the Marines Memorial Gold Star Parents weekend in February.  We participated in the 8th Annual Travis AFB Gold Star Families Ruck March, Memorial Day in Washington, DC, and a trip to Arlington National Cemetery. Our President, Karen Meredith and Kathy Buob from the Golden Gate Chapter attended the National Convention in Albuquerque, NM in June.  We continue our relationship with the Foundation of Recovery (FOR) group at the VA Hospital at Palo Alto, CA and recently celebrated 8 years of supporting this program.
In October, we participate in the CA Run for the Fallen.
We participated in Veteran's Day & Memorial Day celebrations across the state. We will end the year laying wreaths at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA and Tracy Public Cemetery as participants with Wreaths Across America.
We are Mothers on a Mission!

Vietnam 50th Commemoration Partner
AGSM Department of Northern CA has been named as a Vietnam 50th Commemorative official Partner.
We will be honoring Vietnam veterans, Vietnam era veterans, Gold Star family members and Gold Star Wives.

The Commemorative Partner Program is designed for federal, state and local communities, veterans' organizations and other nongovernmental organizations to assist a grateful nation in thanking and honoring our Vietnam Veterans and their families. Commemorative Partners are encouraged to participate in the Commemoration of the Vietnam War by planning and conducting events and activities that will recognize the Vietnam Veterans and their families' service, valor, and sacrifice.

Events and activities will be dignified, memorable occasions that show a sensitivity and appreciation for the solemnity of war and the losses suffered by many.

  • To thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War, including personnel who were held as prisoners of war or listed as missing in action, for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States and to thank and honor the families of these veterans.
  • To highlight the service of the Armed Forces during the Vietnam War and the contributions of Federal agencies and governmental and non-governmental organizations that served with, or in support of, the Armed Forces.
  • To pay tribute to the contributions made on the home front by the people of the United States during the Vietnam War.
  • To highlight the advances in technology, science, and medicine related to military research conducted during the Vietnam War.
  • To recognize the contributions and sacrifices made by the allies of the United States during the Vietnam War.
AGSM Dept of Northern CA works in assisting a grateful nation in thanking and honoring our Vietnam Veterans and their families.
